The examjnation of Owen Connallie who beeing duly sworne and examjned saith <A> that hee beeing at Moinmore in the Countie of Londonderry on tuisday last, hee received a lettre from Collonell Hughe oge macMahown desiring him to come to Connagh in the County of Monoghan, and to bee with him on wednesday or thursday last, wherevppon hee this examinant came to Connagh, on wednesday night last, and finding <B> the said Hughe come to Dublin followed him thither, Hee came hether about six of the clock this evening, and forthwith went to the lodging of the said Hughe, to the howse neere the Boole in Oxmantowne and there hee found the said Hughe, and came with the said Hughe into the Towne neere the pillarie to the lodging of the lo: MacGwire, where they found not the lord within, and there they Drancke a cupp of beere, and then went back <C> againe to the said Hughes lodging, Hee saith that at the lo: Mac Gwires lodging the said Hughe tould him, that there were and would

would bee this night great numbers of <D> Noblemen and Gentlemen of the Irish Papists from all the parts of the Kingdome in this Towne, who with himself had determined to take the Castle of Dublin, and possesse themselves of all his Majesties Amunition there and tomorrowe morning beeing satturday, and that they intended first to batter the Chimnies of the said Towne, and if the Cittie would not yeeld, then to batter downe the howses, and soe to cutt off all the Protestants that would not <E> joine with them, Hee saith further that the said Hughe then tould him that the Irish had prepared men in all parts of the Kingdome to destroy all the English inhabiting there tomorrowe morning by ten of the clock, and that in all the seaports and other townes in the Kingdome, all the Protestants should bee killed this night, and that all the posts that could bee could not prevent it, And further <F> saith that hee mooved the said Hughe to forbeare the executing of that busines, and to discover it to the state, for the saving of his own estate who said that hee could not helpe it, But said that they did owe their due allegeance to

<G> the King, and would pay him all his rights but that they did this for the tirannicall Governement was over them and to imitat Scotland who gott a privilege by that course, And hee further saith that when hee was with the said Hughe in his lodging, the second time, the said <H> Hughe swore that hee should not goe out of his lodging that night, but tould him that hee should goe with him the next morning to the Castle, and said if his matter were discoverd some body should dye for it, whervppon this examinant feined some necessitie for his easement, went downe out of the chamber, and left his sword in pawne, and the said Hughe sent his man downe <J:> with him, And when this examinant came downe into the yard, finding an opportunitie, hee this examinant leaped over a wall and two pales and soe came to the lo: Justice Parsons,
