The examination of Daniel Cauenagh of Clonmullen in the County of Catherlogh taken before vs Sir Sa: Mayart knight &c & Hugh Cressye esquire &c this 2 of Nou: 1641
<Q> Who beinge examined saith that he alwayes hath dwelt with his father Sir Morgan Kauenagh, & that he came from his fathers house at Clonmullen a thursday last was seuenight & that he came that night to Tinihince & that ther was only in his company two men which are his seruants [.5.] donogh Jurdan & Art Kauenagh who came ridinge with him & that he lay that night at Tinihince at the house of Mulmurry mc ffarrel wher ther was no company but the children & seruants of the said Mulmurry & the next day beinge friday he came to Dublin none beinge in his company but his foresaid 2 seruants & lighted at the house of Jasper Cheuers in Sir ffrancis streete & stayed ther til after supper wher ther were none but his said 2 seruants with him & after supper they went to Patrick Lamports house in bridgstreete wher they al lay & wher ther were no strangers that he knowes of & the next morninge beinge saterday they were al three apprehended. he further saith that his occation <R> of cominge to towne was to buy cloathes for himselfe & his sister & had no other busines to towne. & that he doth sometimes vse to ride with 2 men & at this time he brought one of them being Art Kauenagh to place him with Coronel Birne to goe into Spaine he also saith that his father directed him to come to towne because he had now got some mony which sometimes he had not; & that the summe of mony which he now brought with him was 16 li. odde mony. & saith that he knoweth not nor saw any of his Country men in Dublin when or since he came to towne or cominge before or after him or that were to come
