The examination of Brian Odire of Durlus in the County of Tipperary taken before vs Sir Sa: Mayart knight &c & Hugh Cressye esquire &c this 2nd of Nou: 1641

<F> Who beinge examined saith that he hath dwelt at Durlus & neare to it this 12 year{es} last past & hath serued Redman mc Sragh theis 2 yeares last past & that he came from Durlus about 5 weekes since with a horseloade of freeze cloath which he bought in seueral markets in munster & carryed it downe into the North & that aboue a fortnight agoe he was sellinge of his cloath at the faire of Ogher in the County of Tirone & that he was with it at diuers markets & the last market that he was at was at the towne of the Cauan from whence he sent the mony for which he sold it by his boy called Phillip but his surname he knoweth not into Munster to pay it where he had borrowed it to buy his cloath, & vpon wedensday was seuennight himselfe came from the towne of Cauan to a towne within two miles of Kells without any body in his company but the townes name he knoweth not & vpon thursdy followinge he came to Castletowne neare the hil of Tarragh but none was in his company where he lodged at a Smiths house whose name he knoweth not from whence vpon fryday followinge he came to Dublin alone by himselfe where he went into a house in high streete but the name of the man of the house he knoweth not & that he was <G> brought thether by one Dennis Brian whome he mett by chance in the streete & whom he neuer saw before but the said Dennis lay in the said house as this examinant heard a fortnight before & was apprehended together with this examinant He further saith that he lent to a scholler called Hugh Ocoglye 40 s. when he was in the North at Newton in the County of ffermanagh which he promised to pay this examinant in Dublin & that he shold find him vpon the kea in Dublin, but did not find him before he was taken which was on saterday at night & that he had no other busines to Dublin but to get his mony & that nobody aduised him to come to Dublin or told him of any busnes or employment to be had here in Dublin: And saith that he hath not bine in the North theis 12 yeares last past fo before this time & that himselfe was borne in the County of Tipperary & that he knoweth none in the North parts nor hath he any acquaintance with any in those parts but went only to sel his cloath.
