The examination of Patrick O Dorogan of Ballelahartye in the County of Louth taken before vs Sir Sa: Mayart knight & Hugh Cressy esquire &c this 6 of Nou: 1641

<J> Who saith that he was borne at neare Kilcock & that he serued in the north of Ireland as a soldier vnder Capt Hecle & after the army was disbanded he came to Laurence Bedlow in the County of Louth & liued with him commonly euer since, & that he left the towne of Ballelahartye aforesaid vpon thursday last was three weekes & went to Ballehegert a two miles from Ballelaharty & the next day beinge friday he went to the towne of Louth wher he lay at Patrick mc Enalyes where ther was none but the people of the house & himselfe; & from thence vpon saterday followinge he went to a farmers house the townes name he knowes not but the to the house of Rory mc Enuske & from thence on sunday followinge he went by himselfe alone to the house of Hue mc Doine but the townes name he knoweth not & the munday followinge he came to a house neare Clonee where he lay by himselfe & none with him & vpon the tuseday followinge he went to Clonee hearing that ther was a meeting ther of some Captayne but whom he knoweth <K> not to gather soldiers & that he knowes no man in particull that told him of it then, but before the said Bedlow told him of Captaynes that were to raise soldeirs & saith that at Clonee he found no Captaine & that tuseday he came within 2 miles of Dublin but the name of the place he knoweth not & vpon Wedensday followinge he came alone to Dublin, to a widdowes house neare Christchurch but knoweth not hir name where he lay one night but the next day he cold not find hir house againe but & therfore got another lodginge but the place he knoweth not for that he was neuer in Dublin before wher he lay 2 nights & was taken of on Saterday morninge: & that the cause of his cominge to Dublin was only to goe as a soldier with some Captayne for that he heard ther were many here to take vp soldiers & that vpon the thursday & friday before he was taken <L> he did nothinge but goe vp & downe to seke some Captayne. & that he had a litle mony which he got in haruest which did beare his charges & that none did wish or aduise him to come to Dublin neyther doth he know any of the McMahons in the County of Monaghan nor the lord Mcguire or any of the mcguires in the North nor any of the O relyes.
