The Examinacion of Richard Delahide of Chappellmidway in the County of Dublin gent taken before us Sir Richard Bolton Knight Lord Chancellor of Ireland & Sir Gerrard Lowther Knight Lord Chief Justice of the Common Pleas this 19th day of 9ber 1641.
This Examinant saith That upon Thursday last was fortnight <W> upon the generall Summons for the County of Dublin hee among others of the County appered upon the Abbey Greene where they continued untill it was about the falling of the night & then repairing homewards in the way towards Finglas hee mett with William Rowen & att Finglas he & the said Rowen went into the howse of John England to drinke & there str after the expence of some time in drinkeing in a roome below hee this Examinant & the said William Rowen the said John England & Thomas Mulray Mulmoy & and diuerse others went into an inner roome & there dranke some beere & then <X> some discourse falling among them concerning the Rebells in the North this Examinant said wished them to forbeare talking of that matter for if there were not some speedy course taken for the suppressing of them they would spoile all the Countrey Att the speaking of which words John Sephton of of James towne Chappellmidway was present as this Examinant thinketh And presently after this Examinant left the Company & came home to his owne howse att Chappellmidway Hee denyeth that euer hee said that hee could sterue Dublin within a moneth or any words to that effect but confesseth that hee saide that if the Army should come up they might march to <Y> the gates of Dublin for hee saw noe opposition that was made against them. Hee further denyeth that euer hee was raising or intended to raise any men to follow the Kings souldiers when they should goe into the North And saith that hee neuer heard of any plott or conspiracy for raising any Rebellion untill before the same was discovered unto the Lords Justices neither
