The Examinacion of Mrs Elleiz: Wooly of the Citty of Dublin taken vpon oath before mee Henry Prittie one of the Justices of peace for the prouince of Leinster this 7th of Sept 1652:
This Examinant being duly sworne saith; that aboute the begining of <A> of the warrs; in the yeare 1641; shee liued att ould towne within a mile of Laughlin bridg in the County of Catterlagh a Tenant vnto Walter Bagnell then Gouernor of the afore said Laughlin bridg & that shee was forced by the said Walter Bagnell to fly from the said ould towne for theire liues; vnder the protecion of Sir Arthur Loftus att Cloughgrenan within a mile of the towne of Catterlagh & within a shortt tyme after this said examinant Coming to Cloughgrenan aforesaid: one of her seruants was cutting of grass being an Englishman by name Nicholas Pew; was cutting of grass neere the said Cloughgrenan; where some of the said Bagnells partie tooke the said Nicholas prisoner & imediatly carryed the said Nicholas to the said Laughlin bridg being vpon a satturday; and vpon the morrow th morning being sunday; this said examinant sent a messenger to the said laughlin to the said Bagnell Gouernor as aforesaid, desireing him that he would be pleased to sett her said seruantt Nicholas Pew att Lyberty in exchange of fiue men of the said Bagnells partie which were prisoners att Cloughgrenan; att that tyme, and {
