The Examinacion of Edward Walker of the towne & county of kildare gent aged sixteene yeres or thereabouts taken before us the 28th day of October 1653 Whoe being duly sworne & examined deposeth & saith
That about fowre yeres since Abraham Walker this Examinants late father comeing as this Examinant deponent hath credibly heard & verely beleeveth from Kilkenny towards Castle Jorden (where his habitation was) was in the way vizt about twoe myles from the forte <A> of Leix in the Queens County together with one Morrice Carny & Thomas Brimingham [ ] Anthony Tray & Teige Carny then in his company, assaulted & sett vpon by severall men the souldiers of Lewis Moore an Irish Colonell, whose names he cannott expresse And that then & there those souldiers kild the said Abraham walker this Examinants father & the said Anthony Tray as this deponent Examinante hath alsoe heard & verely beleeveth: ffor this Examinant saith that although he was but about twelve yeres old at that tyme, & was not an eye witnesse of that cruelty: yet hee too well knoweth that hee lost his father at that time And besides the said Morrice Carny & Teige Carny who e said have severall times since told & averred to this Examinants mother in her liftime in his this Examinants presence that his said father & the said Anthony Tray were killd in manner aforesaid by Lewis Moores men or souldjers: but being de the names of those men they did not mention name to this deponents now now best remembrance, but the Examinant conceiveth that they the said Morrice Carny & Teige Carny can give better information of the same, The abovenamed <B> Tho: Brimingham being since dead The Examinant further saith that the said Morrice & Teige Carny have since informed him this Examinant that twoe of th his fathers horses (which were of great value) (vpon one of which his father then rode, & the other was a ledd horse) were then taken from his said father) & the next day after the said Lewis Moore had the possession of them both: And also saith that his said father, & mother whilest they were alive, were deprived & robbed of Cowes horses Mares money & other goods & chattells worth twoe hundred Pownds. being all taken from his father at the time when he was killd & brought soe farr towards Castle Jorden (as this Examinant also beleeveth) And the said Morrice Carny is now one of Captain Alands troope now quartered in the north about Strabane, & the said Teige Carny liveth at Tallow near Dublin
