The Examinacion of Alexander Hay Late Servant to Sir John Burke knight taken before mee the maior of Dublin the xiiijth day of January 1641
<G> Who beinge Sworne & examined depoaseth & sayth that hee was before Christmas last an hyred Servant to his sayd master Sir John Burke neare Castle Carhene in the kinges Countie of kild ar e And that this Examinant depoaseth that the sayd Sir John Burke Intertayned in his house one Saterday a weeke before Christmas dyvers Rebells drinkinge all night & makinge merry theare, And that the Tennants of the sayd Sir John Burke are out in Action, And this Examinant desyring to leaue his service desyred the sayd Sir John Burke to discharge him & the sayd Sir John & his ladie graunted the same & gaue directions to twoe of there Cheeffe servants to Conduct this Examinant to the Towne of kilcocke att which towne the sayd twoe servants did Robb & take awaye from this Examinant a purse wherein was Contayned the some of Lix s. sterlinge, And this Examinant further <ff> depoaseth that att his Cominge away from his said master that hee his sayd Master Sir John & his lady did owe vnto him the some of fyue shillings & 6 d. ster & a suit off Clothes & The sayd lady Burk did promise this Examinant that hee should bee safly [
