The Examinacion of Hugh Cormock of Trym, taken at Dublin the 12th of ffebruary 1652
The said Hugh Cormock aged fiue and twenty yeeres or thereabouts being duely sworne and examined saith That about fiue yeeres since he this Examinant being a Trouper vnder the Comand of Major Barnewell at Tecroghan, was comanded by Lieutenant Colonell Taaffe then Governour of Tecroghan to goe with a party then appointed to fetch away the prey of Castleton Moylagh neere Trym, And that one Mc an Ry a Corporall had the Comand of the party consisting of Twelue foote some of whose names were Luke Lyneham now prisoner, this Examinant, Oliver Ledwich, Bryan Clawan, Owen Boy, Andrew Linch, Bryan Martin & Redmand Birmingham both which last mencioned are since dead, the rest of their names that were vpon the party he cannot remember at present. That the said Corporall led the said party to Castleton Moylagh aforesaid where being come, the said Corporall ordered this Examinant and the aforesaid Oliver Ledwich to stay in Company with the now prisoner Luke Lyneham aforesaid about a pistoll shott from the Castle, and in the meane time the Corporall with some others went to the Bawne of the said Castle & thence brought the Cattle from the re being in number about Twenty Cowes, and as they droue

they droue them in the night towards Tecroghan the souldiers of the Garrison of Mullinenagh sallyed out and recovered they prey The Examinant being demanded whether the said Luke Leynham or any other of that party did at the taking away of the said Cowes out of the Bawne, kill one Richard Geyner that liued in the Castle of Moylagh he denyeth that he then knew of any such thing, but saith That at their coming to Tecroghan. some of the party saying that they had lost one of their Companions the night before at Moylagh, One Owen Boy ô Gelshenan, aforenamed did answere that if they did loose one of their fellowes he had killed another for him, but whether man or woman. he did not know, And further saith not.
