The Examinacion of Peter Savadge of Kilbrew in the County of Meath Labourer taken the 22th of ffebr 1652
The sayd Examinate, Peter Savadge being aged 32 yeares or thereaboutes being duely Sworne and Examined saith: That in the beginning of the Rebellion in the yeare 1641 aboute ffebr he this deponent lived with on Mrs Peirce of Mounstowne in the County aforesayd, and came with his sayd Mrs vnto the howse of Mr John Ware at Castle Towne Molough, and whilest he was there, he saw Andrew White now a prisoner, Christopher Hollowood who is since dead, and another in a disguise of a Fryer whom they called Father Browne, but as he since heard it was one Collonell Dowde, all which persons, the aforesayd Mr Ware entertained with a great deale of respect of respect of and civility, And that aboute halfe an houre or better after their coming thither The foresaid Mr Ware with this Deponent goeing towards the Stable doore, and the aforesaid Hollowood peceiveing them, followed, demaunding of Mr Ware his horses, but he refused sayeing that he should first haue his life, and soe endeavored to secure his Stable doore, which Hollowed seeing sent his boy for his Armes, and Andrew White for to his Assistance, but before the sayd boy was got to the howse, the sayd White was come forth into the yard armed, makeing towards the stable doore, as this deponent very beleeueth to assist the sayd Hollowood; b And this

deponent further sayth, That by the directions of the aforesayd Hollowood Mr Ware who called to one of his Souldiers standing by, to hitt the mark, meaning Mr Ware which accordingly was don, he the said Mr Ware received a desperate and mortall wound by a shott in the thought of which he died the sayd White by this ty me being come vp and all this while standinge by, threatning that if they should rayse the cry to kill them all; wherevpon the foresaid White, Hollowood, & other their assistants broke o ve open the Stable doore and carryed away with them about 6: or 7 horses, And further sayth not
