The Examinacion of Bartholmew Nangle of the Towne of Longford merchant aged fiue and forty yeares or thereabouts duly sworne and Examined saith
That Since hee had liberty from the Comittee of the high Court <A> of Justice sitting at Dublyn vpon good bayle to returne from Dublyn to the Towne of Longford hee hath according to his ingagement to the said Comittee to the best of his power endeauoured to inquire out & to apprehend such as in his former examinacion he hath declared to be principalls or Accessoryes to the Massacre committed vpon mr Allen mr Trafford & other English at Longford in the yeare 1641 the first yeare of the Rebellion but professeth that Notwithstanding his Vtmost Care, such as know themselues guilty and feare to be taken haue either in disguises or otherwise shifted themselues away for Spayne & other places amongst these Irish who haue layne downe Armes, or are fled into boggs & woods where it is scarce possible to haue any Notyce of them. Howbeit such hath bin his diligence to gaine Intelligence concerning some of them that hee is credibly informed by Edmond fferrall of Longford towne (who by reason of his kindred to diuers of the fferralls who were the mayne Actors in that <B> butchery) has the best knowledge of them of any man that hee could perceaue) and is otherwise informed beleeving that Rory macGerald fferrall Lisagh mc Gerrard fferrall and James mc Shane fferrall (who were Commanders at the Seige of Longford & to this deponents view were in the street not farr from the place where the English were murtherd at the tyme of the murther, whom this deponent could & did see from his house in the towne aforesaid) are lurking in the province of Vlster <at Castledoagh in the County of Donegall> This deponent further informeth that by relacion from Edmond fferrall aforenamed the sayd Rory mcGerald fferrall Lisagh mcGerald fferrall & James mcShane

shane fferrall are now in the North Countrey in a Towne belonging to mac Swiney cald Castle Nedwo or Castle Nedoo in the County of Donnegall or thereabouts which Towne is in that County as he is assured by a footman cald Mahoon now attending Major Richardson Governor of St Johnstowne in the County of Longford & further saith that hee will make what speedy discouery hee may of others that were at the Murther & giue Notjce thereof to the Lo. president of the high Court of Justyce at dublyn and further saith not
