The Examinacion of Nicholas Stafford [
<to the 1st Interr> The Examinant deposeth and saith that the said John Deuereux the whole time of the rebellyon Liued at Dips & Castlesow in the County of wexford, & in the Irish quarters, and did <c> not remooue him selfe into the english quarters as he might haue done with english & protestants Living neere him the said John.
<To the 2d Inter> The examinant cannot depose
<To the 3d Inter> The examinant saith & is confident that the said John Deuereux did actually contribute in the first yeare of the warres, & before the 10th of Nouember (1642: his proporcion of the publicque taxes then <d> Laid on the Countrey, for maintenance of the Irish forces against the english being soe generall a thing that none was exempted therein
<To the 4th interr> The examinant deposeth that the said John Deuereux was an Actor and abetter of the said Rebellyon <e> in the first yeare thereof
<To the 5th inter> He cannot depose
<To the 6th interr> The deponent saith that the said John did not onely Joyne in the electing the County Councell, but was A member thereof himselfe, the said first <f> yeare And the deponent is confident, that the said John was one of them that made choyse of men out of the said County of wexford for the generall assemblyes
<To the 7th Interr> The deponent saith and is confident that the said John Deuereux did take and subscribe the oath of associacion being a generall <g> thing Imposed on all sortes of people
<To the 8th Interr> He cannot depose
<To the 9th Interr:> The deponent saith that the said John Deuereux was a member <h> of the County Councell the first yeare as aforesaid, and Likewise the said John was and acted as a Commissioner of the Army for the Irish in or about the yeares 1647 and 1648: to the deponents personall knowledge

<To the 10th Interr> The deponent saith that the said John Deuereux, his father by name Phillip Deuereux, Liued at Dips aforesaid, the first yeare of and the whole time of the rebellyon in the Irish quarters, and did not remooue thence into the english quarters, and that the said John had two brothers, the one wherof by name Nichas Deuereux acted in the capacity of a <i> Capt of foote, the first yeare and since, in the Irish Army against the english Interest, and Richard his other brother, continued in the Irish quarters the whole time of the rebellyon – During which time the said John and Nicholas in their respectiue actings aforesaid for the Irish had Correspondency with, and were cherished by their said father to the deponents personall knowledge
