    The examinacion of Robert Browne of Knockingall yeoman aged thirty yeares or thereabouts taken vpon oath on the behalfe of the Comonwealth Concerning the foresaid Dudly Colclough of Moynart in the County of Wexford esquire
    <To the 1st Inter> The Examinant deposeth that he well knew the said Dudly & his two brothers Anthony & John Colclough for that he hath seauerall times seen them in the County of Wexford in the Irish quarters the first yeare & sithence & that the said <y> Dudly Anthony & John did not thence remooue into the english quarters as the Lady Colclough of Tinternes to whom they were Respectiuely allied, & other protestants of the County did
    <To the 2d inter> Hee cannot depose
    <To the 3d & 4th> The deponent saith that the said Dudly Anthony & John we re did in the first yeare of the Rebellyon actually Contribute their persons in Armes & were soe in Armes with a party of the Irish consisting of three hundred or thereabouts which lay beseiging the castle of Tinterne on or about the moneths of Maie and July 1642: the same being then defended by some english therein And that the said Dudly, Anthony & John were present when the said castle was surrendered to the Irish, His cause of knowledge is for the deponent did see them the said Dudly, Anthony & John with the Irish party <z> then lying at a place called Kinnegh distant halfe a mile from Tinterne & for that the deponent did see them the said three Colcloughs at a little castle within halfe musquet shot to the said castle of Tinterne which was taken from the english therein by force & Armes & for that alsoe they deponent did see them the said Dudly, Anthony & John about two or three dayes after in the possession of the said same castle of Tinterne when the english therein were thence departed & the deponent further saith that the said Anthony & John had at that time the se seauerally the Names & Comands of Captaynes, but what office or

    Comand the foresaid Dudly had this deponent doth not know: And the examinant further deposeth that the foresaid Dudly Colclough did about ten dayes after May day in the said said yeare 1642 come to the officers that Comanded the Irish forces that lay at Shelbeggan blocking in Duncannon & from the said officers obtained a partie of Comanded men Consisting of about twenty foure whereof the deponent was one which partie the said Dudly led & Comanded by night to the Irish Camp at Tinterne from which Camp the said Dudly procured more men & to Joyne the said 24: & in that night with the said Dudly in person with the partyes aforesaid forced into an howse close to the gate of Tinterne, of purpose to haue brought from thence [ ] some sheep which he supposed to bee in that howse bellonging to the english & being disapointed <a> of the sheep (being not there at that time) further attempted to breake an out gate bellonging to the bawne of the said castle intending to haue brought hence the Cowes & garrans therein, but being discouered the english out of Tinterne castle made shots against the said Dudly & his partie & the said partie shot against the english & departed without attayning any prey & the deponent further saith that th e he credibly heard that the said three brethren Dudly Anthony & John Colclough did for some time maintaine <b> the Irish forces that took Tinterne & that afterwardes the deponent did see the said John Colclough in the possession of the said castle & landes of Tinterne it being the estate of Sir Cesar Colclough protestant
