The Examinacion of William Jones of Clansharrangh in the barrony of shelbyrn & County of Wexford gent Mason aged about f sixty and three yeares taken vpon oath on the behalfe of the Comonwealth Concerning James & John Barry of Barristowne in the Barrony of Bargie in the County of Wexford gent
<To the 1st inter> The deponent saith that the said James and John dwelt in the County of Wexford in the Irish quarters the whole time of the <g> rebellyon & did not thence remooue into the english quarters as his their protestant neighbours did
<To the 2d Interr> The deponent saith that the said John vpon the accesse of the Lord Generall Cromwells Armie to theese partes betooke himselfe into the forte of Duncannon then guarrissoned by the Irish to decline the protecion of the said Lord generall Cromwell, this deponents cause of knowledge is for that the deponents son in law by name Tirlaugh Murphy was taken prissoner by the Irish & carried into the said forte, & did see the said John then & there in actuall armes among the Irish in the said forte as the said Tirlaugh informed the deponent
<To the 3 & 4th inter> Hee saith that the said James Barry did Contribute his person & raysed men and armes in the first yeare <h> of the rebellyon for the acting & promoting the same which said James was in Company & in Armes in the said first yeare with Dermot mc Dooling the Grand plunderer & robber of the english the Deponents cause of knowledge is for that the deponent did see the said James James with the Company of the said Dermot mc Dooling in Armes at the time they robbed & plundred this examinant & at the time when they plunderred Nicholas Loftus of fetherd esquire his howse at fetherd & droue away his cattle from thence. And this deponent further saith that after that in the first yeare & before the 10th of Nouember 1642: the deponent did see the said James Barry march & Range about the Countrey with a partie of men after him whereof he was Called Captayne to search after
