The Examinacion of Jonas Rushworth of Eniscorthy gent aged fiftie one yeares or thereabouts taken vpon oath, on the behalfe of the Comonwealth Concerning Gerrald ô Breine of Tomgorrow in the barrony of Scarewailsh & County of wexford gent vpon the Interrogatoryes annexed to the Comission of enquiry
<To the 1st Interr> The examinant saith that the said Gerrald dwelt at Tomgorrow the first yeare & the whole time of the rebellyon, the same being then in the Irish quarters from whence he did not remooue into the english quarters as seauerall english & protestants then dwelling at at Eniscorthy neere the said Gerrald did The <f> deponents cause of knowledge is for that the deponent did see him the said Gerrald at seauerall times at Eniscorthy (during the said rebellyon) where the deponents Residence was
<To the 2d inter> Hee Cannot depose
<To the 3d & 4th Inter> The deponent saith that the said Gerrald did contribute his person & seauerall of his seruants and others in Armes in the first beginning of the rebellyon in the promoting thereof: and that the said Gerrald did act and abett the <g> said rebellyon & the robberyes therein Comitted vpon the english and protestants The deponents cause of knowledge is for that the see deponent did see the said Gerrald with his brother <Barthol ô Bryen> & a Number of men in Armes, Consisting of about fifteen, come to the howse of Andrew Plummer A scotchman and a protestant, whose howse was directly opposite to this deponents then habitacion in Eniscorthy aforesaid, and did breake open & enter the same and did thence plunder and bring forth the goods therein bellonging to the said Plummer (who was then in the Castle of Eniscorthy <h> for preseruacion of his Life) And the english out of the said Castle hauing made seauerall shots against the said Gerrald & his Company that were plundering in manner aforesaid the said Gerrald & Company brought their pilladge (being brasse, pewther & other howshould goods) in shelter of this deponents howse to shrowd them from the shotts made from the Castle aforesaid And further saith that
