<Gallway 26o 1653> The Examination of Bryan oge Mc Cahelboy Maron; taken before Robertt Clark Esquire one of the Justices of peace for the precinct of Gallway
<A> saith he Knew Collonel Edmund fflaherty whoe now stands comitted in this towne of Gallway; and that in that in the begining of the warr; dureing or after the seidge of the fort of Gallway, the said Edmund went to the Island of Aro{

was that those men whoe were wounded came by degrees after haueing receiued theire wounds to the Court of Guard; wheruppon this Examinant was <C> Comaunded out with a hand hammer; to make a breach vppon the said Castle; which iourny he was very loath to vndertake; and replyed; that he did not Expect to turne againe salfe; the Collonel answeared; that he must goe; and when this Examinant went towards the said Castle he did as he conceiued fix vppon a salfe place; where he betooke himselfe, nigh the corner bottome of the Castle; imagining there to haue some shelter from the shuteing and stones, whoe were throwen downe, where he did work with his hammer aboute halfe and howre; and was afterwards wounded in the hand; and lost the vse therof for three months; and was likewise wounded in his the thye; whereuppon he was conveyed away by some of the said Company; And being demaunded saith he did not see Mr Wade his wife children or family or any that was in the said Castle Killed; but that he heard that he and his wife & <D> his sonn were Killed; and being demaunded whether he had any part of the plunder when with it was deuided at strawe Island; saith he receiued noe part therof, and being demaunded saith he Knewe John Browne; and that he went along with Colonel flaherty to Trumroe, but whither he did act any thing this Examinant Knoweth not
