The examinacion of Patrick Dowd of Ballicottle in the Barrony of Terreragh in the County of Sligoe taken on 25 <A> 9ber 1652 befor the Commissioners of Reueneue
The examinate doth acknowledg that he was at the Moyne in the beginning of this rebellion with some 40 Men armed with musquetts & pikes, his busines thither being to seeke for meate and drinke for himself and the said Men wherevppon he sent to Sir Robert Hannay to desireing entertainement from him, vppon which the said Sir Robert returned him an answeare that he could not entertaine so many, wherevppon the said Company quartered in the said houses, but paid nothing for theire entertainement. on the next day this examinate went into the house of the said Sir Robert Hannay, And as the examinate doth remember Edmond Burke of Roppagh was eyther in the towne or in the said Sir Roberts house, and being <B> at the same tyme in the said house Sir Robert Hannay gaue this examinate a carbine. This examinate did acknowledg that he was then vnder no commaund nor commissioned by any And this examinate further saith that he was desired by Sir Robert Hannay to draw his said Men

out of the Towne which he accordingly promised him to doe if he should haue any power ouer them, wherevppon he on the next Morning marcht away from thence
And the examinate further saith that after this he went with his <C> father Charles Dowd, Mr Dauid Dowd and about 40 Men with some Armes to the house of Mr John Nowlan at Eneskerone, and br oke pushed open the said Nowlans doores and entered in to his said house (he being then in England) [ ] and his wife then in bedd it being about [ ] 9 or 10 of the clock, put the said Mr Nowlans wife out of doores and his said father kept possession of the goods, And Maister Dauid Dowd of the house
Saith moreouer that one Anthony March came to Castle Connor where the english & scotch passed at theire goeing from Beleeck to Sligoe who threatened to gett sattisfaction from Andrew Daie for some cattle that were taken from the said Anthony [ ] vpon title

And the said examinate saith that his father mett with the said <D> English & scotch at theire march to Sligoe, purposeing to protect Sir Robert Hannay
This examinate further saith that he had a Company of a hundred men the haruest befor the Comotion by vertue of a commission as he pretendeth from the Lord Taaff to goe to Spaine who were all disperst soone after to the number of twelue men, who were with him at his goeing to the Moyne
The examinate lastly saith that <E> for that parte of his examinacion wherein he said That he was vnder no commaund he mistooke for he was then vnder the Comaund of the Lord Taaff
