<John o fflyn of Clonkerries deposicion And Thomas Jonnyn taken 9bris 21o 1652>
This deposicion was taken {be}fare the vndernamed Commissioners of Reuenue on 21o day of 9bris 1652
<A> John o fflyn of Clonkerie about aged 36 yeares or thereabouts being examined vppon oath before [ ] two of the Commissoners of Reuennue of the precinct of Gallway at Ballinrobe saith that about 12 of the Clock on the one and twentieth day of November 1652 h e leaueing the Towne of Ballinrobe, and goeing together with Mr Thomas Nolan to Clonoghashell, he mett with Donogh O Hobane, and his sonn Patrick whome when the said Nolan & he had <B> apprehended, and shewed him a warrant directed to Sargeant Lewe for the apprehending of the said Donogh, to which the said Donogh would not obey wherevpon the deponent together with the said Nolan brought the said Donogh to the Castle gate, in wh os e where Mr Nolan left the said Donogh in the Custody of the deponent not the said Mr Nolan together with the said Patrick goeing into the said Castle, not long after the said Patrick came forth with the a sword in his hand, And Mr. Nolan with him, wherevppon Mr. Nolan desireing him againe to come with him

was denyed by the said Donagh vppon which Mr Nolan tooke him the said Dono{gh} intending to bring him to Ballinro{be} <C> wherevppon the said Donogh tooke the re{in?} of the deponents bridle in his hand And haueing so done Mr Nolan alighted, and thought tooke paper in han { d } to write write to Ballinrobe, wherevppon the said Donogh Patrick Knockt the deponent on the head whereby he was forced to Lett the said Donogh Man goe, which when Mr Nolan saw he runn at the said Donogh and caught part <D> hold on him, vppon which one of the two aforesaid drew out the deponent Mr Nolans sword, wherevppon Mr Nolan laying his hand on the blade of his owne sword re receaued a cutt in the hand, And vppon that the said Donogh made his escape <C> carryeing with him the said Mr Nolans sword

<E> Thomas Jonnyn being at the same tym{e} examined vpon oath saith that the aboue deposicion is truth & being an eye witnes of the aboue proceedings
