The examinacion of William Skelton late of Kinard in the County of Tirone husbandman taken the Sixth day of June 1653 before vs Daniel Hutchinson Esquire, Tymothy Avery Esquire and Richard Tigh Esquire appoynted by the High Court of Justice sitting at Dublin to take examinacions of Massacars & Murders
The sayd examinant being duely sworne and examined deposeth and sayth <A> that Patrick o Hagane late of in the County of Armagh went into Rebellion before Allhallowntyde in the yeare 1641. And that he with one Manus o Cahan with manny others in their companny and vnder their commaund had gathered together divers of the English and protestants vizt somme from Armagh, some from Loghg all Lu ghall, others from the Tall bridge and many from the villages and townes thereabout{
And pretending to convey them safe out of that Country towards Dondalke and from thence to Dublin, they brought them all to the Bridg of Portadowne and there most cruelly did cast them of from of the sayd Bridge into the river, and soe drowned them all not suffring any of them to escape with lyfe
The examinant further sayth that Patrick Doghertie of Kinard - - - - in the County of Tirone - gent went out in rebellion with Sir Phelym o Neyle at the begining of the rebellion and was of his Army But this examinant <B> knoweth not of any Murther that he Committed
He further sayth that Hugh oge o Neyle late of the Brantry in the the County of Tirone gent went alsoe into rebellion with the sayd Sir Phelym and was with him at the surprising of the ffort of Charlemount and continued with him in rebellion until nowe of late, But for any Murther Committed by him this examinant knoweth not And this examinant further sayth not that the Cause of his knoweldg of what he hath before deposed is that being a prisoner at Kinard aforesayd, at the tyme when the sayd Massacre was Committed (besides the publique report of all the Country Many of the o Hughes his Neighbours whoe were
