Richard Randall of Tarmunfeghin in the Countie of Louth yeoman adged fiftie yeares of or thereabouts being duely sworne & examined by virtue of his Oath deposeth & saith that hee this deponent being servant <A> vnto Arlontar vsher of the foresaid Towne gentleman on or about the friday before St James his day in the Moneth of July 1651 being in Company with his Master & Mr Edward St Lawrence travilling from the Cittie of Dublin towards theire dwelling in the foresaid Towne, they were mett in the high way neere the Bridge of Turvey in the Countie of Dublin by a Company of Torryes vizt Patrick Dempsie, Thomas ne Muck, ffrancis Murphie, Georg wafer, Garrard Moore & Shane mc Doyle & then & there meeteing with this examinante & his Company the said Toryes layde violent hould of the said Mr St Lawrence & this examinante said Master & le tt ledd them about halfe a Myle distante from the place they were soe apprehended, & generally they the said Toryes said that though if there were noe more Men in Ireland, they would there have theire lives, wherevppon this Examinantes Master offerd to secure vnto them fortie pounds ster. to Ransome the said Edward St lawrence or to give an Exchange of one other Prisoner for him, that was either in Dublin or <B> Drogheda, [ ] the which offers was by them refused. & <B> wished this deponent & Company to betake themselves to theire knees, for that they should then imediatly dye. & soone after three of the said Toryes gott about the said Mr St Lawrence & stripped him of his Cloathes to his shirt & draers, then spancelled him like a Beast with a peece of Roape & then Thomas ne Muck mounted on Hors=back tooke the said Edward St Lawrence by the hand & ledd him towards

towards the place where they Murthered him, & this deponent saith that as the said Thomas ne Muck ledd him, the Horse on hee ridd on trodd on the said Edward St lawrence his foott being as aforesaid, & not able to goe soe fast as they would have him, wherevpon the said Edward St Lawrence saide th & declared vnto the said Thomas ne Muck, that his Horse trodd on him, & did greiveously hurt him, wherevnto the said Thomas answered that hee would soone ease him of that greife. & then Comaunded him to kneele, & the said Thomas speakeing to the Rest of his Confederatts saide, hath not any of yee the hearte to kill the Rogue, hee sitting on horseback & his Pistoll presented in his hand towards Mr St lawrence wherevppon the said Patrick Dempsie standing by, & haveing the said Mr St lawrence his Sword in his hand, struck him the said Edward St lawrence with all his force, the first blow stroake betweene his head & shoulders, & then thrust him in one side, & a second thrust in the other, then turned his Boddie his back to the ground ward, then thrust his sword into his Belly, on which his Bowells came out. & there dyed. after whose death the said Thomas ne Muck, being on Horseback trampeld on the Corps with his Horse. And further deposeth not.
