The Examination of Laugh Jordan Legg of Laughlin Bridge in the County of Catterlagh taken the 14th of August 1652: before vs Coll Henry Pritty and Henry Jones two of the Justices of the peace for the province of Leinster:
The examinant aged aboute fifty & foure yeares being dulye sworne & examined saith that he is an English man borne in Dorcettsheire that he hath bin in Irelandshire thirty and two yeares & all that tyme a dweller in Laughlin bridge in the County of Catterlagh & that he was there at the begining of the [

then att Laughlin & after returneing semed to be much displeased for that fact, & that he the said Dempsey deserued to be hanged for itt; but the deponent did not heare of any further prosecuteing of any for the said facts
The Deponent further sayth t hat aboute tree or foure <B> dayes after the sending away of one said English an English woeman & her Child haueing agreed with one William Dargan of Laughlin aforesaid to Carry her & her Child ouer the Riuer a little below the bridg of Laughlin the said Dargan did Cast the said woeman & Child into the water, where they were both drowned that the said Bagnell seemed to be very much offended att this fact, & made enquirey after the said Dargan; to have punished him; butt could nott then finde him; he being fled; but aboute six or seaven weekes after the said Dargan entred himself into a Company which was quartered in & aboute Laughlin; which Company was in vnder the Commaund of the said Bagnell the Examinant being demanded wherefore the said Bagnell did not then proceede against the said Dargan; he being vnder his power; answered that he knoweth not & further saith not.
