The Examinacion of Roger Barnewall taken the day and yeare aforesaid
<f> Who being examined and sworne to so much as concerneth others confesseth that he was in the castle of Clongowes wood when the english army lately came before it, and was there three moneths before and agreeth in euery thinge with George Barnewall as touching the manner and time of his comming thither and for sending of powder unto them, and the resort of company unto the castle and onely he addeth that John Geydon of irish towne d used sometimes to resort unto the said castle untill he left the country he agreeth likewise in the number of gunnes and other armes in the house, He saieth that he was not present at the robbing and killing of the englishman of Duneda, but was then about his ploughing but that his brother James Barnewall (since slaine at irishtowne) was one of them and Dominick Cullen was another and Thomas Holliwood was another but whether his brother George was there he knoweth not and sayeth that <g> there was three or foure killed there and a litle child let goe and saieth that he doth not remember the time precisely when the said murder and robbory was committed but sure he is that it was after James Eustace left the Country and confesseth that all the persons which were at the said robbory and murder were receiued into the castle againe afterwards and that there was brought into the said castle of the goods from the said robbory in eleauen paire of sheets eight peweter dishes and two or three peticoates and some other thinges the particulars whereof he remembreth not, and further saieth not.
