The examinacion of William Stafford gent taken on oath on the behalf of the Comonwealth Concerning Marcus Cheeuers of Growtowne in the County of Wexford
<To the 1st intero:> The deponent saith that the said Marcus Cheeuers did in the first yeare of the warrs dwell at growtowne then in the Irish quarters and did not remoue <i> himselfe into the English quarters As many English neere the said Marcus then inhabitingion did but could not so do e without loss of his estate As the deponent conceaueth
<To the 2nd > Hee Cannot depose
<To the 3d> The deponent saith that he verely beleiues that the said marcus did contribute in all leuies imposed on the Country for the maintainence of the Irish forces against the English the said first yeare of the warrs, and that he is certaine the said Marcus did that yeare subscribe to all warrants for raising of money & prouissions for the advancing the Irish forces against the English as aforesaid during the time of <k> that the said Marcus was president of the County councell in this county of Wexford the deponents Cause of knowledge is that the deponent being clearke to the said County councell that yeare did draw and enter all warrants in that behalfe, which were signed by the president of that County for the time being

<To the 6th intero:> Hee deposeth that the said marcus Cheeuers was in the said first yeare of the warrs one <l> of the county councell being sometimes president thereof and afterwards the said marcus was one of the generall assemblye and Joyned in the election of the Supreame Councell as he verily beleaueth
<To the 7th> The deponent saith that he verely beleiues the said Marcus did subscribe the oath of association <m> as other gentry of the Country did it being a generall thing imposed on and taken by the whole Country as he conceaueth
<To the 8th> The deponent saith that the said Marcus Cheeuers did by his warrants in the said first yeare of the <n> warr Impowere this deponent and others to contract with and take vp Armes & Amunition from Captain Anthonye a dutch merchant for the supply of the Irish forces
<To the 9th> That the said marcus the said first yeare of the warrs and sithence was one of the Justices of assizes <o> for the County of Wexford & afterwards cheife Justice of the province of leinster
<To the 10th> The deponent saith that the said marcus had a brother by name Nicholas Cheeuers who <p> was the first yeare of the warrs maior of wexford where the said Nicholas liued all the time of the Rebellion, and at and after the storming of wexford
<To the 11th: 12th & 13th> hee Cannot depose
