The examinacion of Peter Hooper of Passadge in the County of Waterford gent aged about forty two yeares taken vpon oath on the behalfe of the Comonwealth Concerning James Duffe of New Rosse of in the County of Wexford [
<To the 1st Interr> The Examinant Deposeth & saith that the said James with whom he was acquainted before the warres dwelt in the County of Wexford in the Irish quarters the first yeare & the whole time of the rebellyon from <o> whence he did not remooue into the english as the english & protestants dwelling in the County did
<To the 2d inter> Hee Cannot depose
<To the 3d & 4th> Hee deposeth & saith that about Michelmas after the rebellyon brake forth (to the best of the deponents remembrance) the examinant Coming with a party of the english out of the forte of Duncannon to the landes of Corroghmore when & where the deponent did see the said James on horse backe with a sword & a case of pistolls & with him the said James three Companyes of the Irish who fought with & wounded one Peirce Prendergast a trooper of the english party & further saith that the deponent pursueing the said James on horse backe made a <p> blow at the said James with his the deponents sword & therewith cut the said James Duffes belt asunder at which time the said James held one of his pistolls over his shoulder bent towardes the deponent which did not fyre against the said deponent and further saith Not &c onely that the said James had & retained the name of a Captaine in the Countrey &c
