The Examinacion of Donnough Mc Keogh of Loghier in the County of Lymerick husbandman aged thirty six yeres or thereabouts on the part & behalfe o f the State touching the murder r of Gregory being duly sworne vpon the Thorne and Guillepatrick O Duran, being duly sworne vpon the holy Evangeliste & examined sayeth as followeth
That this in March the Munday next after St Patricks day in 1641 John Lacy fiz Piers then of Brofe in the Countie of Lymericke Esquire did with a partie of horse & foote <A> of which he the said Lacy was Comaunder in Chiefe & whereof of which partie this Examinante was one march to Loghurr aforesaid where whither Comeing to in a Body stood on a hill on the west side of the Castle of Logh & perceaueing two men vizt Gregorie Thorne & Gullapatricke o Duran goeing from the said Logh to Gransagh the said John Lacy Comaunded 15en of the said partie to goe & Examyn what the said twoe were & if English to apprehend them & bringe them to him, of which partie of 15en this Examinante was, & Comaunded by John oge Lacy the said John Lacyes sonn & accordingly the said partie of 15en went & apprehended the said twoe men & brought them to the said John Lacy thelder to Broffe aforesaid whoe went before the returne of the said partie of 15th with his partie to Broffe whoe vppon the Examinacon of the said prisoners gaue order to putt them in stockes where they were for 24 houres & afterwards sent them <B> to Kilmallocke to the Soueraigne who imediatly imprisoned them & saye that the he this Examinante was one of the three sent alonge with the prisoners said Thorne & o Durane to Kilmalocke where they continued for a seaven night vntill the said John Lacy the Elder [
