The Examinacion of Jane Roberts alias Walmesley taken before Lieutenant Collonell William Disney the deputie Governor of Drogheda on the xvijth of August 1652. as followeth.
Shee saith that in the begininge of this horrid Rebellion, this examinant Liveing att Peeterston in the Countie of Monnaghan, the Rebbells tooke her then husband John Walmesley, and her eldest sonne and barbarously murthered them, and about one month after, another sonne of this examinants vizt George Walmesley was most Crewelly murthered <A> by one Donnell Boye ô Lennan, who Liveth att Killcrooney in the Countie of Lowth within the Englishe Quarters And shee saithe that her eldest sonne which was first killed, attained to the age of fifteene yeares. and the yonger sonne was about thirteene yeares; And this examinant further saith that about fower dayes after hee had murthered her sonne George, accidentally meeteinge with this examinant, hee the said Donnell Boy drewe his skeane vpon her, and would haue <B> killed her, had not his owne wife who Catcht him by the Armes, and saide vnto him (seeinge a tender infant att her breast) you haue killed her sonne (which is enough) doe not kill her too, wherevpon the said Donnell replyed to his said wife hange her Calliough shee will goe to Tredagh and tell newes, and soe gettinge from him, by the helpe of his wife and some good people, shee escaped
