    The examinacion of George Tomson of the parish of Drumchose in the County of Londonderry Tailor taken before vs at Colerane the said 8th day of March 1652
    <44:> Who being duely sworne & examined saith That about the 23th of ffebruary 1641 This Examinante & one William Loggan (heareing the Irish Enemy were removed from Ballyreshane) went thither to looke after some goods they had hid That in their goeing thither some Of the Irish whom he knowes not spyed & apprehended & stripped them of their Clothes & carreyd them to Ballybogggmiill where the Irish Companies <A> then lay & where he see James McColl McDonnell Henry McHenry Brian Modder McHenry Donnell gorme McDonnell & others whom he knew not who commanded the said Companies as he beleives That after this Examinante & the said William Loggan had beene five daies prisoners at Ballyboggy Mill the said persons & Companies rose thence & marched vnto Ballyreshane takeing vp their quarters within a mile & an halfe of Colerane That this Examinante & the said William Loggan was then & there before the said James McColl McDonnell & a great maney more of Irish Gentlemen then present who after a long Irish discourse which this Examinante did not vnderstand gave order as he conceived by after Accions that this Examinant & the said William Loggan should be fourthwith hanged that <B> therevpon one Donnoghy McDeltan with other Irish men

    men tooke this Examinante vnto Peter Lowries kill end & put ropes about this Examinante & the said William Loggans necke & sett vp a Carr at the kill end vpon which the said Deltan & the rest hanged the said William Loggan <C> & this Examinante with a hair halter about his necke being ready to be executed the said Donnell Gorme McDonnell came out of Peter Lowries kill where the said James McColl McDonnell & the rest of the Officers were & said that he had begged this Examinantes life from the Colonell James McColl McDonnell aforesaid, & therevpon the said Deltan & the rest lett this Examinante goe free & the said Donnell gorme McDonnell the same day called for his boy & tooke from him his Cloake & targe & gave it vnto this Examinante to keepe saying vnto him now be not affraid for there is none that will meddle with yow, to doe you wrong Soone after which The said Donnell Gorme McDonnell called this Examinante into the kill amongst the Officers there to Witt the said James McColl Henry McHenry & divers others whom he did not know who asked this Examinante where the Towne of Colerane was weakest from whence the said Donnell Gorme McDonnell carryed this Examinante & another Scotchman whom the same day he saved from the Gallowes vnto little kilgraine where his [ ] owne Company of about 30: men lay being about halfe a mile distant from the said Peter Lowries That from thence the said Donnell Gorme carryed this Examinant vnto his house at Portnaw (his wife being a Scotchwoeman) where he remained vntill that vpon the March <D> of Generall Major Monro into the Roote he & his people & this Examinante went over the Bann That assoone as he the said Donnell Gorme & the rest of the Irish (who could escape) were gott over the Bann Sir Phelomy roe ô Neile wrote vnto them all wherevpon the said Irish both Officer & soldier marched vnto Sir Phelomy the Examinante goeing all along in the said Donnell Gorme McDonnells Company That after there goeing over the Bann the said Sir Phelomy roe ô Neile & the Irish who went over the Bann out of the Roote engaged with the Brittish Army at Glanmackequin where the Irish were routed, & this Examinant taken by the Brittish to whom he could not without danger come vntill
